Sassy Mae Needs Surgery

Organized by Daphne Evans

Sassy's Surgery is scheduled for Nov 2, 2011
Sassy has been spayed and is doing great. Her leg amputation and dental work are scheduled for Nov 2. A local vet has graciously agreed to do this work at a significant discount, $500 total. I've lowered her chipin to $600, to cover surgery and maybe any follow-up care of take home meds she might need. Thanks to everyone who has donated even $1 for this girl. She deserves it and this will help get her into a great home. Contact me, parkerdaph@yahoo.com, if you would like to know more about adopting sweet Sassy.

Sassy's Diagnosis
First of all, Sassy is wonderful. Has gained weight and is super-friendly and happy. She is well-adapted to not using one of her front legs. So, while she may look a little different to us, she gets around really well. She can run and walk and jump, even go up steps. This is not a setback for her. She needs a great forever home! She's sweet, housetrained, loves dogs, loves kids, loves farm animals, loves cats. Dogs just don't get any better than Sassy Mae. She saw a 2nd veterinarian this week who confirmed that her leg needs to be amputated. So, we still need to raise money for that surgery. She also has a broken canine tooth with an exposed root that needs to be addressed when she has her surgery. And, she is getting spayed next week. Intentionally hit by car -- now crippled.
Sassy Mae was injured last year when she strayed too close to the road and a cruel person actually swerved to purposely hit her with his truck. She never regained use of one of her front legs and it needs to be amputated. Her owner could not afford medical care so she relinquished her to us hoping that we could help her start a new life as a tripawd.
